RITCHIE MAC IS BACK!

For anyone involved in carp fishing in the 1980s and '90s, the name Ritchie McDonald needs no introduction. He was one of the biggest names in the sport, with a personality to match, and an inspiration to a generation of young carp anglers.

So how did the man famous for his adventures at Redmire Pool, Ashlea, Savay, Yateley and his pioneering trip to Cassien disappear almost overnight? How could someone catch the biggest living carp in the UK and tour the country with a legendary slide show, only to vanish without trace?

Now Ritchie is stepping back into the limelight to answer these questions and more, with a new tell-all book and slide show presentation that will put the record straight. Twenty-five years on from the publication of Ritchie on Carp, his highly regarded first book, comes Ritchie on Carp - The Whole Story. In it he describes his entire fishing career, from his first reluctant trip, to the present day, and his turbulent time away from the bank that came close to claiming his life.

Free inside every copy of the book will be a DVD showing Ritchie in action on the bank with the famous Yateley North Lake fish at 45lb 12oz, later named Bazil, and an audio recording of one of his raucous, stand-up slide shows from the still-talked-about Cassien tour.

Copies of this book and DVD package will cost £25, and the first 100 will be numbered and signed as First Edition copies.
There will also be 40 leather-bound copies priced £180 each.

Don't miss this milestone in carp fishing history!

Didn't You Used To Be Ritchie McDonald?

A geezer came up to me the other day and said: "Didn't you used to be Ritchie McDonald?"
I said: "No, mate. That's where you're wrong. I didn't used to be Ritchie. I still am. I haven't changed. It's everything else that changed around me."
That's what happens when you turn your back for five minutes and the next thing you know there are blokes walking round with radio-controlled bait boats that cost more than their rods and reels, you discover that you need a degree in electronics to programme your bite alarms and everyone is watching underwater DVDs and tweeting their catches on their smartphones. What is occurring?
It's been twenty-five years since I wrote my first book, and a lot has changed in that time, so I thought I ought to tell you what I've been up to.
What I haven't done is gone to live in Thailand, become a professional darts player or joined the Foreign Legion, as some have suggested. But to find out what I have been doing you'll have to read this book.
It contains the whole story, hence the title, from the first time I picked up a fishing rod, to catching the biggest carp alive in Britain, and a lot more besides.
It's been an eventful journey, with some moments I will never forget, and others I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemies.
I hope you find it entertaining and also learn a thing or two, while having a few laughs along the way. I had to read it myself just to find out what I'd been up to, but as the saying goes, if you can remember what happened, you obviously couldn’t have been enjoying yourself.
